For 30 years NEOTT has sponsored events and promoted the sport of motorcycle trials. We invite you to join us at our next event to ride, watch or just learn more about observed motorcycle trials.

Here is a fun YouTube video with an overview of trials. (Anyone recognize the airline pilot? :-)
Here is a Euro video on the business of World Trials.

Sept 4th:  Looking at a work day at Scipio for the September event and start setting up for Octobertest.

Next Event: Sep 26: Scipio - 9:30 rider's meeting.  By my count there are at least 3 riders with new bikes to get broken in at the Sept event.

UTE CUP 2010:   NEOTT in Colorado - 6 NEOTT members attended the UTE Cup in Colorado.  More photos will be up soon.  In short the weather was perfect and the event was excellent - UTE Cup should be on every trials riders' bucket list.

Thursday was a travel day and getting camp setup - Mr. Shack's new travel camper housed the team very nicely.  Charles' truck and David's trailer hauled the bikes with aplomb.

Friday was spent tuning the bikes and getting the kinks out.  (finding lost shift levers, jetting, running out of gas, jetting, adjusting chains that were falling off, jetting, cleaning out exhaust systems, jetting and more ).   Each of us needed some support from Mr. Jon Stoodley to get things running right - Thanks JON!!.

Saturday was a pretty demanding 14 mile loop from 8,500 feet up to 11,000 feet with 20 mostly very technically challenging sections - no big stuff really - just a very fine line through the sections that you had to be right on it all the way through.  The loop was ridden twice and the course took 5 1/2 to 6 hours to complete.

Sunday was a completely different loop, it was 11 miles up to the top of the mountain, again to 11,000+ feet and with 20 sections.  The loop was less demanding and the sections were easier.  After Saturday's demanding ride I didn't hear any complaints about the more relaxed Sunday event.  Anyway we all rode the first 20 sections up to the top of the hill and then got to wait for all the riders to complete the course.  When Charles rode in at the top with flat front tire team NEOTT looked like a NASCAR pit stop and had it fixed pretty quickly.  Then we turned around and went back down the mountain riding the same sections only this time riding them backwards.  The sections were less technical but the few sections with 'big stuff' in them had bigger stuff than the day before.

Jason Carpenter won his first UTE Cup - he tied with Keith Wineland (both were clean for both days) the tie breaker rule was the oldest rider wins.  The top 40% of riders get an award, so out of 58 riders the awards went through 23rd place.  Shack was 25th and Mike was 26th so in lieu of practicing more to get better the strategy for next year will be to recruit more riders to attend so more awards will be given - then maybe we'll have a shot at an award.  Shout out to Mr. Stan Hensley who does the hard work of dealing with the Forestry Service to make this event happen.

There are three openings for riders to sign up to be co-trialsmasters.  Remember that to be eligible for year-end awards you must be a trialsmaster (TM), co-trialsmaster (Co-TM) or assistant TM (A-TM) at least once during the season.

The role of CO-TM is ideally filled by riders with some experience and is an opportunity to learn more about setting up sections and running an event from more experienced riders.  The TM and Co-TM do not ride the event but receive 30 points for the event.  You can only be a TM or Co-TM once per year.

The Assistant-TM role can also help setup sections, run the sign-up\scoring table etc.  They do not ride the event.  They receive 5 points for the event and you can be A-TM multiple times per year.

The Co-TM and A-TM roles actually help make you a better rider and gives you some exposure to what the other classes get to deal with.

Last Event - June 27 - Scipio - All the results, including NEOTT year-to-date standings are here.

A bit warm but a good event none the less - most importantly no one had issues with the heat.  The sections were designed to be a little more open and less intense due to the expected high temps and I didn't hear anyone hollering for more when the event was over.  Big shout-out to Trialsmaster Rich for pulling this all together.   Where the heck were the amateur riders today?  Meanwhile Fred and Kevin are out having fun at the event ...  - Thanks Rich!
